Tour & Teach Program

In 2019, Rise & Shine launched our Tour & Teach program, which provides high-school students the opportunity to participate in creative educational trips across America.  In October 2019, Rise & Shine took six students from San Augustine, Texas on our first trip to Washington, D.C.  As you can see below, we had a blast!!

We visited the National Portrait Gallery; the American History Museum to view the Star Spangled Banner, and the First Ladies and the American Presidency exhibits; the National Archives to view the Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, and the Bill of Rights; Ford’s Theatre, where President Lincoln was assassinated; the Spy Museum; the Holocaust Museum; and the African American History Museum.

The tour also included stops at the famous monuments, including the Washington, Lincoln and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorials; the World War II Memorial; and the Iwo Jima, U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, and Pentagon Memorials.  Plus, our group toured Embassy Row, Capitol Hill, the Library of Congress and the Supreme Court building, and enjoyed an outdoor tour of the White House.  We also attended Sunday services at the National Cathedral and met with Texas Senator Ted Cruz.
